The first step in planning for a wedding ceremony is to start saving money in a joint account which will go towards expenses for such things as the ceremony, honeymoon, securing a place to live, etc. This is a step which cannot be overlooked because it will be the first “financial” thing that you do together. Also, it will become the monetary foundation for the rest of your married life.
If you are planning a “dream wedding” you should start preparations no later than at least one year in advance. This time will pass in the blink of an eye and you won’t be scrambling around in a panic at the last moment. And for a wedding of this magnitude it will take at least 365 days to make sure everything is in order. It is also imperative to sit down immediately and make a thorough checklist of every tiny thing that will need to be taken care of, booked, and reserved.
Remember that choosing the perfect location for your ceremony is a top priority. (To read my latest published article on this important subject please click here.) Without a site you cannot get married. So plan far in advance and you can probably save yourself a ton of money. For example, you can find a wonderful site and move your original date backwards or forwards a week or so to fit their availability and save hundreds of dollars! Or maybe even a Sunday instead of a Saturday and receive the deal of a lifetime.
Visit lots of locations before making this important decision. And give yourself several months to make a choice. Remember, this will be the place where you will be experiencing one of the most memorable occasions of your life.
The dresses and tux’s are also very important! Give yourself at least six months before the ceremony to take care of not only the bridal gown, but also the bridesmaid’s dresses. This will allow plenty of time for ordering and alterations. It’s also vital to get the tuxedos for the groom and groomsmen in advance. Here, you can color- coordinate, have plenty of time for fittings, and also make sure that everyone has all the needed accessories.
One of the biggest aspects of the wedding planning is the food. I would suggest taking care of this item at least three months in advance. One of the best ways to know for sure of the quality is to set up food and cake tastings. Any caterer will be glad to provide this free sampling and you will get to know the most important aspect of this service and that is simply the taste! Cold steak and warm tea don't necessarily make for a night of fun and celebration.
